Cocktail Hour

With Halloween comes parties. Below are some cocktail recipes I've gathered that would be great to serve at any adult Halloween party.

Eyeball Shooters

Limeslime eyeball jello shooter, with lichee-red maraschino eyeball floating in it.

Ingredients

Yield: 16-20 shooters
10 oz vodka
2 (3 oz) packages of Jello
2 cups boiling water
1 cup cold water
20 canned or fresh lychees
20 maraschino cherry
20 slices of black grape


Method

1. Stuff a maraschino cherry into the lychee without breaking it.
2. Cut slice from outside of grape and place over red part of 'eyeball.
3. For Shots: Bring water to a boil and remove from heat. 
4. Dissolve the packages of Jello in 2 cups boiling water, stirring for at least 2 minutes, until gelatin is dissolved. 
5. Stir in ice-cold water and vodka. 
6. To suspend eyeball in jello, pour jello half way up in a square shot glass, large enough to hold the lychee with room around the edge and let set.
7. Place the 'eyeball' on the set jello and pour remaining jello into shot glass.
8. Cover and let set.

Note: instead of using the lychee and maraschino cherries, you can make Coconut Malibu Eyeballs found here, or use gummy eyeballs that can be found at most supermarkets during Halloween.

Intensive Jell-O Ward

Medical and lab themed Jell-o shots.

Ingredients

10 oz vodka
2 (3 oz) packages of Jello
2 cups boiling water
1 cup cold water
Package of syringes





Method

1. Bring water to a boil and remove from heat. 
2. Dissolve the packages of Jello in 2 cups boiling water, stirring for at least 2 minutes, until gelatin is dissolved. 
3. Stir in ice-cold water and vodka. 
4. Use large syringes (without needles) to suck up Jell-O mixture
5. Chill as usual.

Note: A size somewhere between 30ml and 60ml will deliver a decent shot sized “shot”. The 60ml catheter tip syringes we found were ideal and included a cap to put over the end – nice to keep the Jell-O from dripping.

Bloody-Rimmed Martinis

White chocolate, coconut, cream, rum, and vodka make a tasty martini, while red cake gel around the rim.

Ingredients

Red decorating icing writing gel
3/4 cup half-and-half or light cream
1/2 cup coconut-flavored rum
1/4 cup vanilla vodka or vodka
1/4 cup cream of coconut
Ice cubes



Method

1. Carefully pipe red gel around the rim of 4 to 6 martini glasses, letting it drip down the sides. Set aside.
2. In a pitcher stir together the half-and-half, coconut rum, vanilla vodka, and cream of coconut. Place ice cubes in a martini shaker. Add coconut mixture. Cover and shake. Divide mixture among prepared martini glasses. Makes 4 to 6 drinks.

Ectoplasm Cocktail

A bright green cocktail.

Ingredients

1.5 oz Vodka
1/2 oz Midori
1/2 oz Blue Curacao
3 oz Orange juice
3 oz Sprite or 7up
